Before the shoot
Planning the shoot is half the fun! We work with you during pre-shoot consultations either by phone or email to understand what you are looking for in a shoot so that we can provide the best experience possible for you. We find out what you are hoping to get from the photos — family memories, adorable children portraits, a self-confidence boost, great headshots, or your personal goal. Then we talk about location, clothing, and the details to make that possible.
Above all, getting to know you is the most important element before the shoot so that we capture the “real” you.
Some things to think about:
Indoor or outdoor?
It depends on the “feel” you want for a shoot. Most families prefer the fun, natural lighting of outdoors. Glamour can easily go outdoors or indoors depending on the mood and privacy desired. Ask us questions. Getting the location right is a crucial part of planning.
Style your shoot! For families, picking a unified color scheme can be a great way to coordinate without feeling too matchy-matchy. With kids, it’s all about comfie clothes in bright colors. Glamour? Let’s talk. Glamour is all about style. We can’t wait to discuss.
During the shoot
We keep it fun and relaxed to get the most authentic portraits. Don’t worry about posing. We are here to coach you through natural, beautiful images.
For newborn shoots: It’s best to have the shoot within the first 10 days after birth so go ahead and let us know your expected date so we can pencil you in. Expect that the shoot can run long depending upon the baby. We stop for baby’s needs. Please have baby’s belly full right before the shoot begins and bring a pacifier if baby takes one.
For pregnancy shoots: Relax and enjoy showing off the belly. We recommend a shoot in the last month of pregnancy to memorialize your biggest belly and best glow. Or you can choose to do a series of shoots to show the progress.
For shoots with kids: Comfie clothes and props can make a good kids’ shoot a great one. It’ll be all about capturing the family dynamics. Don’t worry about the perfect smile or special poses. We roll with it and capture the precious.
For glamour shoots: You’re all dolled up and ready to amaze the lens so let us have it. Relax, have a great time, and give us your most dazzling.
After the shoot
Once the shoot is over we work on each individual image in a digital darkroom to touch up each portrait and add other artistic enhancements that you’d expect from a professional photographer including black and white copies.
If you need quick headshots or birth announcement cards, we will rush through a selection of key images but the post-production process normally takes up to 2 weeks. Don’t worry though – we can send you a sneak peak to show you how amazing the images will be!
Once ready, your images will be displayed on a private online gallery for up to 30 days so you can select the very best.
